Duke of Cornwall Awards

The LRF hosted the Duke of Cornwall awards ceremony and activities for Lincolnshire scouts, guides, and youth groups on Saturday 7th June at the Waddington Training Centre.

This is an amazing opportunity for youth groups that have completed the award to experience blue light service activities and receive their certificate from the Lord Lieutenant and Chief Fire Officer for Lincolnshire.

The Duke of Cornwall Community Safety Award was launched in response to significant flooding in Cornwall. His Royal Highness Prince Charles (The Duke of Cornwall) visited the village of Lostwithiel. He came to see first-hand the devastating aftermath of flooding which left homes and businesses ruined. He questioned why youth organisations were not effectively engaged in the recovery effort. The Community Award was developed to give young people in the UK an opportunity to learn what to do in an emergency situation, such as severe weather, a pandemic or long-term power cut. There are 3 awards that are aimed at different ages groups.

The Home Award The Community Safety Home Award is aimed at 5–10-year-olds.

The Neighbourhood Award The Community Safety Neighbourhood Award is aimed at 10–14-year-olds.

The Community Award The Community Safety Award is aimed at 14–18-year-olds.

Upon completion of the award, the individual will be able to demonstrate how they can assist within communities, such as checking on neighbours and vulnerable people and delivering information.
