Storm Goretti

Update Friday 9th January 2026

Weather warnings remain in place for Lincolnshire today, associated with Storm Goretti.

While other parts of the country have experienced significant snowfall, most of our county has seen persistent rainfall.

A Met Office yellow alert for snow is currently in place until noon today, with a yellow alert for rain in place until 9pm UK weather warnings - Met Office

This weather front will slowly move eastwards throughout the day and may turn to snow or sleet this evening – although this is likely to melt quickly.

We expect icy stretches on untreated surfaces on Saturday morning, so motorists and pedestrians should take extra care on these routes.

Currently further rain and, potentially, snow are forecast for Lincolnshire on Sunday into Monday.

There are currently 12 flood alerts across the county. You can find out the latest here: Lincolnshire - flood alerts and warnings - GOV.UK

Agencies continue to monitor the situation and we will provide updates if there are significant changes over the weekend.

Thursday 8th January 2026

We are preparing as Storm Goretti approaches, and our priority is keeping everyone in our community safe.

At the time of publishing two yellow weather warnings are in place for the county—one for snow (covering the west of the county beginning at 17:00 today until 12:00 tomorrow Friday 8th January) and one for rain (that begins 18:00 today until 21:00 tomorrow Friday 8th January).

The UK Health Security Agency have also extended the Amber cold-health alert to Monday the 12th January that has been in force since the 31st December.

Please stay connected with us online for the latest updates so you can prepare with confidence. Conditions may change, and some areas could experience flooding. If flood alerts or warnings are issued, you’ll find them here:  Lincolnshire - flood alerts and warnings - GOV.UK

Currently, western parts of the county are more likely to see snowfall, while eastern areas may experience heavier rain. This could change as the storm progresses.

We’re working closely with the Environment Agency and emergency services to monitor the situation, especially near rivers where additional warnings may be needed.

Our next update is expected be shared tomorrow morning when we expect to have a clearer picture of conditions.

Please consider if you need to travel, and if you do, drive to conditions. This risk extends to footpaths and there is an increased risk of slips, trips and falls.
